From the guidelines of the American Thyroid Association:
- Planning pregnancy within six months
- Orbitopathy or Graves’ eye disease
- Low iodine uptake
- Suspected thyroid cancer
- Large nodules or enlarged thyroid (goiter)
- Patients with high TRAb antibody levels
- Patients with hyperparathyroidism (increased calcium from an overactive parathyroid gland)
